So I went to my trusty Google and typed in “How to make a Victorian hat”
Google did not let me down. Was there any doubt?
I have picked my top favorite hat tutorials:
- To start if you are looking for a Victorian hat that fits your head and has a bent brim DawnDreams Tutorial works well. If you are a beginner crafter I would not suggest this simply because she does not go into great lengths explaining each step and it will most likely turn into trial and error.
- If you wish to make a cheap and easy mini hat while brushing up on your French this Youtube video is great.
- Don’t like Jello. The next video uses a recycled calender and old discarded fabric. )I use an old placemat for fabric. My little tutorial is here.)
- If you have the budget for it, dare I suggest a recycled lamp shade. This is an especially good idea for a mad hatter costume.
When it comes to decorating ideas for your hat I suggest visiting blanchesplace.com and other hat sites for some inspiration.
Well that is all for my Victorian Hat search. Next week I’m making a Halloween craft with my nieces. I will keep you updated, unless I don’t.
